Robert B. Stone

Robert B. Stone was author and co-author of over 80 published books, most notably on self-help and powers of the mind. His most best-selling book was “Martinis & Whipped Cream” (1966) with coauthor, hypnotist Sidney Petrie. That book was significant in the history of diet books. Stone and Petrie coauthored numerous self-help books for over a decade. Stone then authored scores more books on achieving the human potential.

Dr. Stone was an internationally known lecturer on human potential. He taught for many years at the University of Hawaii on activating the powers of the mind. A MENSA member, Dr. Stone was elected to the New York Academy of Science. A Silva Method lecturer for 20 years and Ambassador-at-Large, he introduced the Silva Method to five nations and was honored with many Silva awards.  He counseled hundreds of individuals around the world in self-healing, human relations, and problem-solving.  He served as a volunteer adviser with SCORE of the U.S. Small Business Administration, President of the Honolulu Lodge of the Theosophical Society, and member of the Good Samaritan Advisory Board. He started a public relations practice on Long Island, New York, serving Boards of Education, businesses, and non-profit organizations, and was Editor of the Huntington Times.  He served in the US Army Signal Corps at the end of World War II in Europe.   He graduated in 1937 from MIT with a bachelor degree in General Engineering.  He was awarded an honorary Ph.D. in 1982 by University of the Trees.

Dr. Stone was born on February 26, 1916 in New York. H Robert B. and Lola Stone met future wife Lola as teenagers on a Long Island Beach. Twenty years later, he married Lola in 1953. In 1955 their son Dennis Stone was born and they built their dream home in the woods in Huntington Bay, Long Island. In 1969, they moved to Honolulu, Hawaii where they lived for 28 years. In 1997, Robert and Lola moved to Thailand, where he passed away on January 5, 1999 at age 83. Lola passed away in 2015 at age 98. Lola was also an avid writer and world traveler.
